Madhesh lawmaker Kushwaha sentenced to 4 years in prison for corruption

MAHOTTARI: The Special Court has convicted suspended Madhesh Provincial Assembly member Saroj Kumar Singh Kushwaha in a corruption case, sentencing him to four years and one month in prison alongside a fine of Rs 3,850,139.

A bench comprising Special Court Chairperson Sudarshandev Bhatta and members Umesh Koirala and Bidur Koirala passed the verdict on Tuesday.

The court ruled that Kushwaha, an elected lawmaker from Mahottari Constituency No. 4 (B), had taken Rs 3,850,139 in bribes and commissions from various user committees.
