Over 2,300 drivers penalized, generating Rs 2.084 million in a single day

KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office penalized a total of 2,300 motorists for various traffic violations over the past 24 hours, injecting Rs 2.084 million into the state treasury.

Among those booked during the intensive enforcement drive were 104 individuals caught driving under the influence of alcohol, 177 for unauthorized ride-sharing operations, 147 for jumping traffic lights, and 105 for speeding.

The single-day crackdown also targeted numerous other offenses across the valley.

Traffic authorities penalized 152 drivers for honking in prohibited zones, 141 for driving down one-way streets, 113 for illegally parking on sidewalks, and 56 for failing to maintain lane discipline.

Additionally, another 1,305 motorists faced action for various miscellaneous traffic violations.
