SINDHULI: Police in Sindhuli have arrested a 21-year-old man on allegations of using artificial intelligence (AI) tools to alter images of traffic police officers and sharing them on social media.

According to the District Police Office, Hark Bahadur Syangtan of Kamalamai Municipality–1 was taken into custody after allegedly photographing and filming traffic police personnel conducting roadside checks near Gadauli Bridge on the BP Highway. Police claim he later manipulated the images using AI-based tools and uploaded them to Facebook with the intent of damaging the reputation of the traffic police.

Following his arrest, the District Administration Office granted police a seven-day remand to investigate the case under charges of indecent behavior. Authorities have also seized the mobile phone allegedly used in the incident.

Police have urged the public to verify information before sharing or commenting on content circulating on social media, warning against the spread of unverified or misleading material.
