NEPSE decreases by 11.37 points with Rs 5.625 billion turnover

KATHMANDU: On the final trading day of the week today, Friday, the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) decreased by double digits. Although NEPSE declined, the trading turnover increased compared to the previous day.

The NEPSE dropped by 11.37 points on Friday. Decreasing by 0.41 percent compared to the previous trading day, NEPSE closed at 2,755.41 points.

The sensitive index also fell by 1.77 points today to close at 471.99 points. Percentage-wise, this is 0.37 percent lower compared to the previous trading day. Similarly, the Float Index decreased by 0.37 percent and the sensitive float index decreased by 0.38 percent.

In the stock market on Friday, at least 12,732,868 shares of 351 companies were bought and sold 55,467 times. Accordingly, a turnover of Rs 5.625 billion was recorded on Friday. This is higher compared to the previous trading day.

On Thursday, a turnover of Rs 4.703 billion was recorded on NEPSE. On Wednesday, shares worth Rs 5.738 billion were traded. On Tuesday, a turnover of Rs 5.265 billion was recorded, while on Monday, shares worth Rs 5.614 billion were bought and sold.

The share prices of only 74 companies increased in the stock market today. While the share prices of 184 companies went down, the share prices of 11 companies remained stable. Out of the 13 groups traded on NEPSE today, Friday, the indices of only four groups increased, while the indices of the remaining nine groups declined.

Accordingly, on Friday, the Commercial Bank sub-index decreased by 0.44 percent and the Development Bank group sub-index decreased by 0.16 percent. The finance group sub-index increased by 2.77 percent and the hotels and tourism group sub-index increased by 0.05 percent.

Similarly, the sub-indices of hydropower decreased by 0.74 percent, investment by 0.37 percent, life insurance by 0.44 percent, manufacturing and processing by 0.78 percent, and microfinance by 0.16 percent. The Mutual Fund sub-index increased by 0.27 percent and the Non-Life Insurance group sub-index increased by 0.06 percent. Meanwhile, the sub-indices of Others and Trading decreased by 0.74 percent and 0.23 percent respectively.

On NEPSE this Friday, investors of Kalinchowk Hydropower earned 15 percent, while investors of Hotel Forest Inn lost 4.22 percent in share price.

In terms of trading volume, Ankhu Khola Hydropower Company was at the forefront today. On Friday, it recorded a turnover of Rs 557.9 million.

Similarly, Ankhu Khola also led in terms of the number of shares traded today. On Friday, at least 1,350,660 shares of this company were traded. On Thursday, some 747,700 shares of this company were traded. Likewise, while 988,177 shares were traded on Wednesday, some 1,081,313 shares were traded on Tuesday. Similarly, at least 997,531 shares were bought and sold on Monday. The final trading price of Ankhu Khola stood at Rs 413 per share.
