Man held with nearly Rs 2 million in unaccounted cash in Rasuwa

DHUNCHE:  Police have arrested a man found carrying nearly Rs 2 million in unaccounted cash during a security check in Dhunche Bazaar of Gosaikunda Rural Municipality-6, Rasuwa.

According to the District Police Office, Rasuwa, a police team from the Temporary Police Post in Dhunche intercepted a Kathmandu-bound passenger Sumo jeep (Na 1 Ja 4807) traveling from Syabrubesi along the Pasang Lhamu Highway.

During a routine inspection, officers recovered Rs 1,952,100 concealed inside a bag belonging to 35-year-old Mingmar Chhiring Gurung of Gosaikunda Rural Municipality-3.

Police immediately took Gurung into custody and confiscated the cash. Authorities suspect the money may be linked to illegal Hundi transactions. The Rasuwa District Court has granted police a seven-day remand to further investigate the case, the District Police Office said.
