KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress whip Nischal Rai has criticized the Finance Minister Swarnim Wagle for undermining parliamentary authority by repeatedly altering tax rates in the newly tabled financial bill.
Speaking at a House of Representatives meeting during discussions on the annual budget estimates, Rai questioned whose vested interests were being served by these unpardonable changes.
Asserting that modifying a bill arbitrarily after it has already been officially presented to parliament is akin to treason, he demanded a formal investigation into the matter.
