BIRATNAGAR: Residents of Biratnagar staged a dramatic protest today by lying on a road to block the vehicle of Koshi Province Minister for Internal Affairs and Law, Indramani Parajuli, demanding immediate repairs to a long-neglected road section.

Locals from Wards 1 and 3 blocked the Pushpalal Chowk–Tinaini road near the Law College, saying the pothole-ridden road has become a major safety hazard, causing frequent accidents. They accused authorities of ignoring repeated requests for repairs.

Protesters also blamed overloaded tipper trucks for damaging the road and criticized officials for failing to regulate them.

The blockade was lifted after police held talks with demonstrators. Residents warned of stronger protests if authorities do not take prompt action to repair the road and control overloaded vehicles.
