KATHMANDU: Nepal Police have arrested a fugitive suspect wanted in connection with a homicide at the Pashupatinath Temple complex earlier this year.
The suspect, 28-year-old Subin Rana Magar, also known as “Darbenath,” is a resident of Tripurasundari Rural Municipality-5 in Dhading District. He was apprehended in Gaushala Municipality-6, Mahottari District, police said.
The arrest stems from an investigation into the death of Santosh Pariyar, also known as “Santosh Giri,” who was originally from Sankhuwasabha District. Pariyar’s body was found under suspicious circumstances inside the 15 No. Shivalaya shrine in the Pashupati area of Kathmandu on February 18.
Investigators determined that Pariyar had been killed and identified Rana Magar as the primary suspect. Police believe he fled Kathmandu shortly after the incident and went into hiding in the southern plains.
