RUPANDEHI: The Rupandehi District Court on Monday provided major legal relief to Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chairman Rabi Lamichhane by dropping organized crime and money laundering charges against him.

The bench, led by Judge Ramesh Kanta Adhikari, maintained the core cooperative fraud case but withdrew the two additional severe charges.

This ruling also applies to co-accused GB Rai and Kumar Ramtel, effectively opening a pathway for a legal settlement if the accused ensure the return of victims’ savings.

Coming just ahead of RSP’s first general convention, these successive legal reliefs are expected to clear Lamichhane’s path to retain party leadership.
