KATHMANDU: The Department of Foreign Employment has intensified its efforts to curb foreign employment fraud, process complaints, and protect migrant workers through continuous legal and administrative actions.
According to its performance report released on June 17, the Department’s Investigation Branch registered 29 new fraud complaints in a single day, leading to the issuance of 28 arrest warrants and the detention of nine individuals, while nine disputes were settled through mutual agreement.
Additionally, the Department dispatched 68 official correspondence pieces regarding investigations, bank inquiries, and charge sheets, while its Monitoring Branch managed five agency-related letters and distributed 16 passports.
On the welfare front, the Rescue and Coordination Branch successfully rescued six workers, provided compensation to two individuals, registered 10 new complaints, and conducted 13 bilateral discussions alongside 15 counseling sessions.
Furthermore, the Department resolved nine out of 11 grievances received via the ‘Hello Sarkar’ system and settled 29 of the 47 complaints lodged through its call center.
To expedite future assistance, the Department has urged all relevant parties to submit necessary documentation and official letters systematically, emphasizing that well-organized information is vital for prompt and effective rescue operations.
