House of Representatives passes Appropriation Bill, 2026

KATHMANDU: The House of Representatives has passed the Appropriation Bill, 2026.

In today’s meeting of the House of Representatives, the proposal presented by Finance Minister Swarnim Wagle, requesting “that the Appropriation Bill, 2026 be passed,” was approved by a majority.

Prior to this, Speaker Dol Prasad Aryal had presented clauses 2 to 11 of the bill for a decision.

Expenditure reduction (budget cut) proposals tabled on the appropriation headings by Members of Parliament—including Kriparam Rana, Parwati BK, Jog Kumar Barbaria Yadav, Santosh Subba, Neeta Ghatani, Parshuram Tamang, Arjun Kumar Karki, Narendra Kumar Kerung, Ramesh Kumar Malla, Sajida Khatun Siddiqui, Yubraj Dulal, Yashuda Kumari Baral, Guru Prasad Baral, Mohammad Istiyak Rai, Balawati Sharma, Bishnu Maya BK, Yagya Bahadur Bogati, Ain Bahadur Mahar, Pushpa Raj Kandel, and Padma Kumari Aryal—were rejected by a majority of the House.

Finance Minister Wagle had presented the annual estimate of revenue and expenditure (the budget) for the upcoming fiscal year 2026/27 in a joint meeting of the Federal Parliament on May 29.

Discussions on the ministry-wise headings of the Appropriation Bill took place in the House on June 15 and 16.

The respective ministers answered the questions raised during the discussion on Wednesday and today.

The next meeting of the House of Representatives will be held on Friday, June 19 at 11:00 AM.
