KMC presents budget of Rs 25.88 billion for FY 2026/27

KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has presented its policies, programs, budget, Finance Bill, and Appropriation Bill for the upcoming fiscal year 2026/27.

To implement the metropolitan city’s policies and programs, an estimated total budget of Rs 25.88 billion has been presented.

Out of this, Rs. 25.13 billion will be charged to the consolidated fund, while Rs 750 million will be met through other external liabilities.

For the current fiscal year 2025/26, the metropolitan city had passed a budget of Rs 25.11 billion.

Acting Mayor Sunita Dangol announced these figures while publicizing the budget for the upcoming fiscal year 2026/27.

“It is estimated that Rs 25.13 billion will be deposited into the consolidated fund for the upcoming fiscal year,” Dangol said. “Out of this, it is estimated that a total resource of Rs. 20.18 billion will be managed through Kathmandu Metropolitan City’s internal revenue and bank balance.

Grants received from the Government of Nepal and the provincial government through conditional, equalization, and revenue sharing are estimated to bring in resources worth Rs 4.93 billion.

Similarly, resources worth Rs 10 million are expected to be received through public participation.
