KATHMANDU: Courts across all districts where legal actions were initiated against Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chair Rabi Lamichhane have ordered the dismissal of all charges against him, with the sole exception of cooperative fraud.
Most recently on Friday, a bench led by Judge Atmadev Joshi at the Kathmandu District Court ordered the withdrawal of the organized crime charge that had been filed against Lamichhane.
This follows earlier, similar rulings by district courts in Rupandehi, Parsa, and Kaski, which had also dismissed organized crime charges against the RSP leader.
Additionally, the Kaski District Court had previously dropped the money laundering charge leveled against him.
With these successive judicial rulings, all charges filed against Lamichhane across the respective courts have been officially dismissed, leaving cooperative fraud as the only active charge currently being pursued.
These court decisions also extend to the other co-defendants named in the cases, including GB Rai, who had been facing identical charges alongside Lamichhane.
Consequently, cooperative fraud remains the exclusive legal charge moving forward against Lamichhane and the other accused.
