KATHMANDU: Traffic police in the Kathmandu Valley collected Rs 511,501 in revenue over the past 24 hours after taking action against 1,922 drivers for violating traffic rules.
According to the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office, 92 drivers were penalized for driving under the influence of alcohol, while 78 were booked for operating unauthorized ride-sharing services.
Similarly, 129 drivers were fined for violating traffic signals, and 139 were penalized for speeding. Authorities also took action against 41 drivers for violating lane discipline, 67 for unnecessary honking in restricted areas, 10 for operating vehicles with tinted windows, and 70 for driving the wrong way on one-way roads.
The remaining 1,296 drivers were penalized for various other traffic rule violations.
Traffic police said the enforcement campaign is being carried out regularly to improve road safety, encourage compliance with traffic laws, and maintain smooth traffic flow across the Kathmandu Valley.
