KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress President Gagan Kumar Thapa stated Friday that blatant partisan control, rather than political awareness, has become the biggest crisis facing the education sector.

Speaking at a party event in Sanepa, Thapa criticized the deep-rooted practice of appointing school management, headmasters, and teachers based on political favoritism rather than merit.

He stressed that the country must urgently shift away from recruiting loyalists over qualified professionals, urging teachers to focus on their core responsibilities to help build a prosperous Nepal.
