KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress President Gagan Thapa stressed that constitutional amendments must proceed under clearly defined priorities, criticizing the government’s current unstructured approach.
He suggested forming a preparatory committee led by a Supreme Court justice or parliamentarians to guide a phased process, focusing first on reviewing commissions and then on enhancing public service delivery.
Thapa warned that opening all aspects of the constitution at once could trigger chaos, and firmly stated that the Nepali Congress will never compromise on foundational pillars like democracy, republicanism, federalism, and inclusiveness.
