CHITWAN: The Narayani area in Chitwan recorded the highest amount of rainfall across the country in the last 24 hours, according to the Climate Science Division under the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology.
Rainfall was monitored at 335 measuring stations (45 manual and 290 automated) between 8:45 AM on Monday and 8:45 AM today. According to the data, precipitation was recorded at 243 stations within the past 24 hours.
Among these, the Narayani Field Office station in Chitwan district recorded the highest rainfall at 319.8 mm.
Furthermore, three neighboring stations around the same center recorded over 200 mm of rain, while 23 stations nationwide registered rainfall exceeding 100 mm.
Disaster management expert Ujwal Upadhyay informed that the low-pressure line has been shifting toward the central and eastern Terai regions since Monday night.
He stated that the continuous rainfall in Kathmandu and other areas stopped last night, adding that today’s weather will be relatively sunnier and warmer compared to Monday.
According to Upadhyay, the risk of flooding around the Saptakoshi and Narayani rivers will persist until this afternoon.
According to the department, low-lying areas around Bharatpur in Chitwan are currently inundated due to the heavy downpour.
