KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Balendra (Balen) Shah has called a Cabinet meeting for 4:00 PM today at Singha Durbar, immediately following a chaotic parliamentary session where he left after just 20 minutes.

His brief appearance, marking his return after a long absence, was met with fierce criticism from opposition MPs as crises mounted outside, including attempted self-immolations, vehicular blockade at the media gate and severe waterlogging at the Kirtipur holding center for landless settlers.

Today’s meeting is expected to discuss and make decisions regarding the government’s regular administrative business and the prorogation of the current budget session of Parliament.
