KATHMANDU: US Chargé d’Affaires Scott Urbom met Minister of Foreign Affairs Shisir Khanal to discuss strengthening bilateral relations and expanding economic and people-to-people ties between the two countries, the US Embassy said on Monday.

According to the embassy, the meeting focused on building on nearly eight decades of partnership through closer economic cooperation and stronger people-to-people exchanges.

During the meeting, Khanal also congratulated US Embassy Public Affairs Chief Mike Harker on his recent successful ascent of Mount Everest. The embassy said the exchange highlighted opportunities to promote tourism through initiatives involving government officials, athletes, and entrepreneurs, while supporting economic growth and creating new opportunities for US businesses and investors.
