KATHMANDU: Two people have been arrested with eight kilogrammes of marijuana at Tribhuvan International Airport. Twenty-year-old Monadevi Hlajom and 23-year-old Oniyam Eli from Manipur, India were arrested today with the contraband.

The Central Police Newsroom reported that police dispatched from the Narcotics Control Bureau branch office in Gauchar seized the marijuana while searching the suitcases of Hlajom and Eli who came from Bangkok to Kathmandu on a Thai Airways flight, and arrested them.

Meanwhile, police teams on regular patrol have arrested 33 people with drugs from various places in the country.

According to the police newsroom, three people each were arrested from Banke, Jumla, Morang, Kanchanpur, Chitwan, and Dang; two each from Rupandehi and Kathmandu; and one each from Surkhet, Bardiya, Kailali, Sarlahi, Bhaktapur, Bara, Salyan, and Sunsari districts.

The police have impounded brown heroin and the banned drugs Tramadol, Bomin, and Anargan from them.
