BIRGUNJ: Petroleum product imports through the Birgunj customs point reached a total value of Rs 181.70 billion during the first 10 months of the current fiscal year.

This represents a significant 16.35% increase (amounting to Rs 25.53 billion) compared to the same period last fiscal year, which saw imports worth Rs 156.17 billion.

According to Udaya Singh Bista, Information Officer at the Birgunj Customs Office, the import of these fuel products generated Rs 67.19 billion in revenue for the state.

A specific breakdown of the imports shows that diesel accounted for the highest share, with 895,246 kiloliters valued at Rs 100.57 billion entering the country.

This was followed by petrol imports, which stood at 390,615 kiloliters valued at Rs 35.79 billion, showing an increase from the Rs 31.71 billion recorded during the same period last year.

Additionally, cooking gas (LPG) imports reached 242.70 million kilograms valued at Rs 25.54 billion, reflecting a slight decrease from the Rs 30.28 billion worth of LPG imported during the first 10 months of the previous fiscal year.
