KATHMANDU: The government has announced a series of new tourism initiatives under the federal budget for fiscal year 2026/27, focusing on cultural, religious, and adventure tourism.
Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle said Janakpur will be developed as an international wedding destination, while a new “Danphe Trekking Route” will be introduced to promote eco-tourism in Himalayan regions.
The budget also includes the Greater Lumbini Development Program linking key Buddhist heritage sites and the development of the “Shaligram Path” along the Kaligandaki river corridor to promote religious tourism.
