NEPSE drops by 33.83 points, turnover stands at Rs 9 billion

KATHMANDU: On Thursday, the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) decreased by 33.83 points. Falling by 1.18 percent compared to the previous trading day, NEPSE settled at the 2,833.03 mark.

On this day, the Sensitive Index also decreased by 4.41 points to stop at 477.46 points. In terms of percentage, this is 0.91 percent lower than the previous trading day. Similarly, the float index increased by 1.17 percent and the sensitive float index by 0.96 percent.

In the share market on Thursday, 20,743,884 unit shares of 342 companies were traded through 111,607 transactions. Accordingly, a turnover of Rs 9.312 billion was recorded on Thursday.

On Monday, a turnover of Rs 8.665 billion was recorded. Due to the public holiday for the New Year, there was no trading on NEPSE on Tuesday (April 14). On Wednesday (April 15), a turnover of Rs 10.537 billion was recorded.

Out of the 13 sectors traded on NEPSE today, the indicators of all groups declined, turning the market “red.” Accordingly, on Thursday, the Commercial Bank group index fell by 0.80 percent, the Development Bank by 1.15 percent, Finance by 1.89 percent, Hotel and Tourism by 0.50 percent, Hydropower by 1.51 percent, the Investment group by 1.27 percent, and Life Insurance by 0.90 percent.

Similarly, Manufacturing and Processing fell by 1.54 percent, Microfinance by 0.71 percent, Mutual Fund by 0.14 percent, Non-Life Insurance by 1.28 percent, Others by 1.90 percent, and the Trading group sub-index by 1.01 percent.

On Thursday, the share prices of two companies hit the positive circuit breaker on NEPSE. Those hitting the positive circuit include Ridge Line Energy and Surya Kunda Hydro Electric Company. This means investors in Ridgeline and Surya Kunda earned 10 percent.

In contrast, investors in Sindhu Bikash Bank faced a loss of 9.47 percent.

In terms of turnover amount, Reliance Spinning Mills remained at the forefront. Today, a turnover of Rs 618 million was recorded for Reliance.

Similarly, in terms of the number of shares traded, National Hydropower Company was the leader today. At least 1,732,317 unit shares of National Hydropower were bought and sold on Thursday. Yesterday (Wednesday), 1,728,398 units of shares of National Hydropower were traded. Its final trading price was maintained at Rs 318 per unit.
