Biratnagar – More than 400 cargo trucks have been stranded for over a week at the Integrated Customs Check Post in Rani, Biratnagar, after the enforcement of a rule requiring Maximum Retail Price (MRP) labeling on imported goods at customs.

The new regulation on ready-made imports has halted clearance of goods worth billions of rupees, including food items, garments, cosmetics, seeds, and industrial products.

A proposed flexible system allowing self-declaration for certain goods was reportedly rejected at higher levels, worsening the deadlock.

Customs officials say shipments without MRP labels cannot be cleared until further instructions are issued. Traders warn the delay could damage goods and disrupt market supply.
