KATHMANDU: Traffic police took action against 2,034 drivers in the Kathmandu Valley over the past 24 hours for violating traffic regulations, generating more than Rs 2.2 million in revenue for the state treasury.

According to the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office, 140 drivers were penalized for driving under the influence of alcohol, while 184 faced action for unauthorized ride-sharing operations.

Similarly, 210 motorists were booked for speeding, 120 for violating lane discipline, 110 for driving on one-way roads, and 87 for disobeying traffic signals.

Police also fined 96 drivers for parking on sidewalks and 57 for unnecessary horn use in restricted areas. An additional 1,029 drivers were penalized for various other traffic violations.
