Over 26,000 students apply online for KMC scholarships

KATHMANDU: A total of 26,888 students have submitted online applications to secure scholarships for classes 11 and 12 in schools operating within the Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC).

According to KMC officials, the applicant pool comprises 16,549 male students, 10,333 female students, and six individuals registered under the ‘others’ category. Out of the total submissions, the metropolitan city has already approved 23,499 applications, while 84 have been rejected so far.

A stream-wise breakdown reveals that the Science stream received the highest interest with 18,996 applicants, followed by Management with 7,271, Law with 407, Education with 135, and Humanities with 79 applicants. To assist students and parents facing technical difficulties with the online portal, the KMC Education Department has established a dedicated help desk.

Under this scholarship scheme, selected students recommended by the metropolitan city will be completely exempt from paying any academic fees for their classes 11 and 12 education.
