KATHMANDU: Traffic police have arrested 23 people accused of harassing passengers at the New Bus Park in Gongabu, Kathmandu.
A team from the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office detained the suspects following complaints that they were troubling passengers using public transportation at the busy bus terminal.
According to the office’s spokesperson, Superintendent of Police Naresh Raj Subedi, the individuals were allegedly involved in aggressively soliciting passengers, snatching luggage, and causing unnecessary harassment in the New Bus Park area of Kathmandu Metropolitan City–26.
The arrested individuals are from several districts, including Rupandehi, Gorkha, Jumla, Banke, Dang, Rolpa, Kaski, Dadeldhura, Mugu, Udayapur, Kailali, and Syangja.
Police said all 23 suspects have been handed over to the Kathmandu District Police Range for further investigation and legal action.
Traffic police have been conducting regular enforcement campaigns in the New Bus Park area to improve safety, maintain order, and ensure a hassle-free travel experience for passengers.
