KATHMANDU: Vice President Ram Sahay Prasad Yadav joined U.S. Chargé d’Affaires ad interim Scott Urbom at the US Embassy in Kathmandu’s celebration marking the 250th anniversary of American independence, attended by around 1,000 guests from Nepal’s political, business, civil society and media sectors.
Raising a toast with Vice President Yadav, Urbom said the celebration’s Great American State Fair theme reflected the values of community, openness and partnership. He said the same spirit has defined relations between the United States and Nepal for more than seven decades.
Urbom said the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence provided an opportunity to reflect on America’s founding ideals and the enduring role of diplomacy in shaping the country’s development and global engagement. The event brought together representatives from government, diplomacy, business, civil society and the media to commemorate the milestone.
