KATHMANDU: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has detained the chief and a driver of the Veterinary Hospital and Livestock Service Expert Center in Saptari over an alleged bribery scheme involving payments to livestock vaccinators.

The CIAA’s Itahari office launched the operation after receiving complaints that vaccinators were asked to pay 20 to 25 percent of their dues as kickbacks to receive payment for administering PPR vaccines to cattle and goats.

Investigators took Office Chief Ram Pabitra Das and driver Bhogendra Yadav into custody.

According to the complaint, vaccinators sought CIAA intervention after repeated demands for bribes while claiming payments for their vaccination work.
