KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court has ordered authorities to submit a written response within 24 hours explaining the reason for the arrest of Durga Prasai.

A single bench of Justice Mahesh Sharma Paudel issued the order on Wednesday during a preliminary hearing, directing the response to be submitted through the Office of the Attorney General within 24 hours of receiving the notice.

Following Prasai’s arrest, his lawyer Advocate Ashish Luintel filed a habeas corpus petition, arguing that he was being held in unlawful detention and seeking his release.

The Supreme Court has also summoned both parties for hearings and ordered police investigation files related to the case to be submitted through government attorneys.
