KATHMANDU: The Chinese Ambassador to Nepal, Zhang Maoming, paid a courtesy call on the Minister for Health and Food Safety, Nisha Mehta, at the ministry in Singha Durbar on Monday.

According to the ministry’s joint-spokesperson, Dr. Samir Kumar Adhikari, the two officials discussed the close bilateral relations shared between Nepal and China.

During the meeting, Minister Mehta expressed her appreciation for the ongoing support provided by the Chinese government, particularly highlighting their contributions to various projects within Nepal’s health sector.

She noted that Nepal aims to learn from China’s development achievements to implement well-planned initiatives moving forward.

Ambassador Zhang extended his congratulations and best wishes to Minister Mehta for a successful tenure, hoping the current government achieves significant milestones in Nepal’s economic and social development.

Reaffirming China’s commitment, the Ambassador stated that the Chinese government stands ready to assist Nepal in its priority sectors.

He further proposed enhancing capacity building and technical cooperation in diverse areas, including traditional medicine systems, public health, infrastructure, and food hygiene.

Senior government officials were also present during the high-level meeting.
