KATHMANDU: The Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist), led by Netra Bikram Chand “Biplav,” staged a protest against the government’s removal of squatter settlements.
The demonstration was held on Sunday at Maitighar Mandala in Kathmandu. The party stated that the protest was organized against what it described as “inhumane repression” and “state terror” targeting landless and squatter communities.
Protesters raised slogans demanding guarantees for people’s rights to land, implementation of revolutionary land reform, and condemning the government.
The government has recently been carrying out operations to remove squatter settlements across the Kathmandu Valley.
