KATHMANDU: Former Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai conducted an on-site visit to the demolished squatter settlement in Thapathali, Kathmandu, on Thursday to assess the condition of displaced residents.
The visit comes after the government cleared settlements along the riverbanks, displacing several families. Bhattarai reached the area to understand the current situation of the affected squatters.
During the inspection, he interacted with residents who had returned to collect their belongings, listening to their concerns and observing the ground realities following the eviction.
The visit highlights growing attention toward the condition of displaced communities after the removal of informal settlements in the capital.
