MYAGDI: In anticipation of the risks associated with natural disasters such as floods, landslides, and inundations that can occur during the monsoon season, a disaster response demonstration has been conducted in Beni, Myagdi.

During the exercise held in the Myagdi River in Beni, a joint team from the Nepali Army, Nepal Police, and the Armed Police Force demonstrated rescue and search operations carried out during disasters.

The program was organized ahead of the onset of the monsoon to test the coordination, preparedness, and response capabilities among the security agencies. During the exercise, practices such as rescuing individuals stranded in floods using boats, performing rope rescues, and transporting injured persons to safe locations while providing first aid were performed.

Similarly, the demonstration showed how rescue teams deploy to landslide and flood-affected areas. Modern rescue equipment and tools were also used during the program.

Security officials have urged the public to exercise caution near riverbanks and landslide-prone areas during the monsoon. They requested everyone to rely on official information rather than rumors during a disaster and to immediately notify security agencies if assistance is required.

As monsoon-induced floods, landslides, and inundations cause loss of life and property every year, such exercises are considered highly effective for pre-preparedness. Conducted in the presence of local residents and stakeholder agencies, the demonstration showcased the readiness and capabilities of the security forces in disaster management.
