KATHMANDU: A total of 21 candidates have applied for the position of Director General of the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) following a public call for applications through open competition.

Similarly, 27 candidates have submitted applications for five member positions on the Board of Directors of Nepal Airlines Corporation.

The notice states that preference will be given to individuals with experience in commerce, economics, accounting, aviation, or tourism promotion.

The Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation said it will now proceed with the evaluation process based on predetermined criteria. Applications were invited through a public notice issued on April 25, calling for qualified and experienced candidates to fill the top leadership roles.

According to the criteria, applicants for the Director General position must be Nepali citizens and must not hold permanent residency in a foreign country. Candidates are also required to submit their academic qualifications, professional experience, curriculum vitae, a copy of their citizenship certificate, and a minimum 3,000-word professional work plan.

Following the preliminary screening, shortlisted candidates will be selected through presentations and interviews.

A separate notice for Nepal Airlines Corporation board member positions was also published on April 25, with a seven-day deadline.

The criteria require candidates to possess expertise or experience in commerce, economics, or aviation.
