KATHMANDU: The Nepal Bar Association and other legal practitioners will stage a lantern protest at 1 PM today at the Bar premises over the refusal to register writ petitions related to the Constitutional Council decision and Chief Justice recommendation.

The Bar has accused the Supreme Court administration of obstructing judicial processes by not registering the petitions and violating court orders.

Lawyers say the protest will continue until their demands are addressed.

Acting Chief Justice Sapana Pradhan Malla had yesterday instructed the Supreme Court administration to register writ petitions filed against the Constitutional Council’s decision to recommend fourth-ranked justice Manoj Kumar Sharma as the next Chief Justice, but the directive was not complied with.
