KATHMANDU: The Nepal-China cultural exchange event was organized at Gaurishankar Secondary School in Tamakoshi of Dolakha district near the Nepal–China border on Thursday.
The event was jointly organized by the China Foundation for Rural Development (CFRD), the China Cultural Center in Kathmandu and Power Construction Corporation of China (PowerChina), coinciding with International Children’s Day.
In this initiative, Power Construction Corporation of China (PowerChina) supported the construction of a library and stationery.
Likewise, the China Cultural Center showcased Chinese culture and images of Chinese tourist cities, while the China Foundation for Rural Development distributed sports kits to the students.
This fully reflects the strong commitment and support of Chinese institutions in Nepal toward the holistic cultural and physical development of children in remote areas, China Foundation for Rural Development said.
The newly established library is equipped with a diverse collection of books in the Nepali language related to China and is decorated with images of Chinese culture provided by the China Cultural Center.
“These resources help cultivate students’ understanding of Chinese culture, while the variety of equipment included in the sports kits enriches children’s physical activities at school.”
Counselor Zhu Feng of the Chinese Embassy in Nepal, Director Liu Zhanping of China Cultural Center, Country Director of China Foundation for Rural Development Nepal Office Zou Zhiqiang and representatives from the local government attended the event.
This project reflects the broader vision of strengthening people-to-people connectivity while supporting the development of quality education.
On the occasion, Counselor Zhu termed this initiative as highly meaningful.
Likewise, PowerChina Country Representative Chen Xu stated that PowerChina will continue to serve as a bridge for China‑Nepal cooperation and contribute to building a shared future.
Director Liu from the China Cultural Center remarked that such gatherings sow the seeds of friendship and knowledge.
Country Director of the China Foundation for Rural Development (CFRD) Zou said that her institution has been working in Nepal with sustained investment in children’s education and well-being.
