KATHMANDU: The government has re-invited international competitive bids for the dam, powerhouse, and hydromechanical works of the Sunkoshi-Marin Multi-Purpose Diversion Project at Seleghat, Ramechhap.

This follows the termination and subsequent blacklisting of the previous contractors—a joint venture of India’s Patel Engineering and Nepal’s Raman Construction—who achieved less than 10% progress in nearly three years despite a Rs 14.07 billion contract and a 2027 deadline.

The new tender was launched after the Supreme Court ruled in favor of the project in February 2026, dismissing the contractors’ legal challenge.

The national pride project aims to generate 31 MW of electricity and provide year-round irrigation to five Terai-Madhesh districts.
