NRB announces foreign exchange rates for Monday

KATHMANDU: Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has fixed the foreign currency exchange rates for today, Monday, setting the buying rate of the US Dollar at Rs. 151.62 and the selling rate at Rs. 152.22.

Among other major currencies, the European Euro stands at Rs. 174.68 (buying) and Rs. 175.37 (selling), the UK Pound Sterling at Rs. 202.28 (buying) and Rs. 203.08 (selling), and the Indian Rupee remains pegged with a buying rate of Rs. 160.00 and a selling rate of Rs. 160.15 per 100 rupees.

The central bank has also determined the exchange rates for Gulf currencies, locking the Qatari Rial at Rs. 41.62/Rs. 41.79, the UAE Dirham at Rs. 41.28/Rs. 41.44, and the Saudi Rial at Rs. 40.38/Rs. 40.54 for buying and selling respectively.

Higher-value currencies like the Kuwaiti Dinar are valued at Rs. 493.96 (buying) and Rs. 495.91 (selling), while the Bahraini Dinar rests at Rs. 402.07 (buying) and Rs. 403.66 (selling). For East Asian currencies, 10 Japanese Yen can be bought for Rs. 9.46 and sold for Rs. 9.50, the Chinese Yuan is set at Rs. 22.41/Rs. 22.50, and 100 South Korean Won is priced at Rs. 9.72/Rs. 9.76.

NRB noted that these official rates can be revised at any time based on market necessity, adding that the exchange rates offered by individual commercial banks may vary from these central guidelines.
