KATHMANDU: The University Grants Commission (UGC), in coordination with universities, has implemented a revised National Academic Calendar to streamline and standardize Nepal’s higher education system.
Approved on Tuesday by the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology, the updated calendar revises the 2023 version based on recent recommendations from May 2026.
This integrated approach—backed by the UGC Act and the Essential Services Operation Act—aims to bring a major reform by ensuring admissions, teaching, exams, and result publications strictly follow a fixed schedule.
Additionally, the move fulfills point 87 of the government’s 100-day governance reform agenda, which prioritizes the timely publication of Bachelor’s and Master’s degree results.
