KATHMANDU: The NGO Federation of Nepal has demanded the immediate release of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) report.

Marking the occasion of its 31st annual general meeting, the federation issued a 17-point “National Civil Declaration 2026” following a two-day “National Civil Conference 2026” held in Kathmandu.

At a press conference on Thursday in Kathmandu, the federation urged the government to ensure an impartial investigation and action against those responsible for incidents that occurred during the Gen Z protests on September 8 and 9, 2025.

It also called for the immediate publication of the NHRC report.

The federation stressed that the government, political parties, and relevant bodies must take concrete steps to protect democracy, human rights, social justice, and the spirit of the constitution.

Federation Chair Arjun Bhattarai said that the role of civil society has become even more important in the current situation, adding that civil society has the responsibility to cooperate in positive government initiatives while also monitoring and speaking out against wrongdoings.

In its declaration, the federation also demanded the safe relocation of landless people and marginalized communities living in high-risk areas, and urged that basic human rights and constitutional fundamental rights not be violated.
