KATHMANDU: Following the tragic death of 25-year-old Ganesh Nepali from Mugu, who passed away at Bir Hospital after attempting self-immolation in front of the Passport Department in Kathmandu, Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) parliamentary party leader Gyanendra Shahi expressed his grief and frustration on Facebook.

Criticizing the government, Shahi stated that laws and positions are meant to protect citizens, not destroy them, and called out leaders who prioritize personal popularity over public welfare.

He emphasized that a citizen turning to such a desperate act points to a massive failure of the state.

He urged those in power to understand the realities of poverty, hunger, and struggle, concluding that true governance is measured by how safe and secure its citizens are.
