TANAHUN: Two young children have died after being struck by a vehicle along the Prithvi Highway in Aabukhaireni Rural Municipality-2, Tanahun district.

The victims have been identified as six-year-old Sayana Thapa and five-year-old Uliyum Thapa, according to Dwarika Prasad Ghimire, Deputy Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office.

The accident occurred on Friday afternoon when a car bearing an Indian license plate hit the children as they were walking home from school.

According to police reports, both children sustained critical injuries in the collision.

They were rushed to a medical facility in Chitwan for emergency medical care, where they succumbed to their injuries during treatment on Saturday morning.

Local authorities are currently investigating the incident.
