1.92 million votes cast nationwide by 11 a.m.

KATHMANDU: According to the Election Commission, 10.18 percent of votes have been cast across the country. Election Commission Spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai said that 1,923,824 votes had been cast by 11 a.m. in the election that began at 7 a.m.

Voting is taking place nationwide for the House of Representatives election, and voters are reported to be participating enthusiastically.

Acting Chief Election Commissioner Ram Prasad Bhandari said that the results of the direct election (first-past-the-post) will be announced within 24 hours after the ballot boxes are collected following the end of voting. Based on the enthusiasm shown by young voters, it is estimated that more than 65 percent voter turnout could be recorded.

In this House of Representatives election, a total of 18,903,689 voters aged 18 and above are eligible to vote.

Among them, 9,663,358 are men, 9,240,131 are women, and 200 are registered as other voters. According to the Election Commission, there are 10,967 polling locations and 23,112 polling stations across the country.
