KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation has announced that officials of its subordinate bodies have automatically been relieved of their positions in accordance with the “Special Provision Ordinance on Removal of Public Office Bearers, 2026.”

According to a notice issued by the ministry, the officials listed have been removed from office as per Section 2 of the ordinance. The notice states that Chairperson of the Electricity Regulatory Commission, Ram Prasad Dhital, along with members Madhusudan Adhikari, Jhamak Prasad Sharma, Gautam Dangol, and Bhagirathi Bhattarai Gyawali, have been relieved of their duties.

The ministry clarified that these officials were automatically dismissed following the implementation of the ordinance.

Similarly, Hitenedra Dev Shakya, Executive Director of the Nepal Electricity Authority, has also been removed from his position. Members of the Authority’s Board of Directors—Ratan Bahadur Airee, Bal Bahadur Parajuli, Shyam Kishor Yadav, and Rohit Poudel—have likewise been relieved of their posts.
