KATHMANDU: Former Prime Minister and CPN (UML) Chairman KP Sharma Oli has successfully undergone gallbladder surgery, with doctors confirming that the procedure was completed without any complications.

According to his secretariat, the surgery was performed by doctors at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital after prior medical evaluation and was carried out as scheduled.

Doctors removed a 22 mm gallbladder stone during the operation and have stated that his condition is now stable following the procedure.

Earlier, Oli was arrested by police from his residence in Gundu and was admitted to the hospital the same day, citing health concerns.

Following his arrest, his wife, Radhika Shakya, filed a habeas corpus petition at the Supreme Court, alleging unlawful detention.

Subsequently, the court ordered authorities to complete the investigation involving Oli and then Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak within a set timeframe.

Although he was later released, he remained at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital for the scheduled surgical procedure.
