KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Balendra Shah (Balen) has assumed responsibility for the Ministry of Home Affairs following the resignation of Sudhan Gurung on Wednesday.

Gurung stepped down after facing controversy over alleged links with businessman Dipak Bhatta and questions surrounding his assets. He said the resignation would allow an impartial investigation. His tenure lasted 26 days after the government was formed.

Scrutiny had intensified after his property disclosures were criticized, alongside reports of additional investments, including in micro insurance, and financial transactions related to his organization Hami Nepal conducted through personal bank accounts.
