KATHMANDU:The first phase of the “Competent MPs, Strong Parliament” parliamentary practice and leadership development training series is set to begin today for the House of Representatives members of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP).
Organized by the party’s Central Training Department, the two-day program will take place on May 9 and 10 at the Nepal Administrative Staff College in Jawalakhel, Lalitpur.
The formal inauguration is scheduled for 11:00 AM today, to be conducted by Party Vice-President and Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle.
This initiative is expected to be a milestone in enhancing the effectiveness of Parliament in favor of the public and developing the legal and policy-related skills of the lawmakers.
The first day of the training will focus on the interrelationship between the House and the Government, as well as core parliamentary procedures.
General Secretary Bhoop Dev Shah is slated to provide training on the coordination between the party, the government, and the legislature.
Additionally, Deputy Leader of the Parliamentary Party Ganesh Parajuli will discuss the active roles MPs should play within parliamentary committees, while Whip Nisha Dangi will share methods and experiences regarding parliamentary practices and the role of a whip in party coordination.
The second day’s sessions will shift toward political conduct, diplomacy, and preparations for future elections.
Whip Krantishikha Dhital will lead a session on political psychology, behavior, and high ethical standards.
Foreign Minister Shisir Khanal will provide insights into international diplomatic relations and the technical aspects of state protocol.
Furthermore, Joint General Secretary Bipin Kumar Acharya is set to present a working paper on the scientific framework for candidate selection and the party’s internal preparations for the upcoming local elections.
The training program will conclude with a special instructional address by Party Chairman Rabi Lamichhane.
During the closing session, Chairman Lamichhane is expected to provide a roadmap regarding the party’s core agenda, its commitment to good governance, and the responsibilities lawmakers must fulfill as accountable representatives of the people.
