BAGLUNG: Candidates of the Rashtriya Swatantra Party (RSP) have won both Baglung Constituency No. 1 and No. 2 in the House of Representatives election, marking a major shift in a district long influenced by other parties.
In Baglung-1, Sushil Khadka secured victory with 20,927 votes. Bhim Bahadur Shris of the Nepali Congress finished second with 11,944 votes, followed by Hira Bahadur Khatri of the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist Leninist) with 8,640 votes. Krishna Prasad Sharma Adhikari of the Rastriya Janamorcha received 4,521 votes.
In Baglung-2, Som Sharma of the RSP won with 12,647 votes, defeating Tek Raj Paudel of the Nepali Congress, who garnered 11,868 votes. Gyamnath Gaire of the Nepali Communist Party received 10,709 votes.
Baglung has traditionally been considered a stronghold of the Rastriya Janamorcha, while the Nepali Congress also maintained significant influence. In this election, however, the RSP secured victories in both constituencies. The Rastriya Janamorcha and the Nepali Communist Party had formed an electoral alliance, fielding candidates in separate constituencies.
