KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court has issued a show-cause order in the habeas corpus petition relating to four detainees, including medical entrepreneur Durga Prasai.
During a preliminary hearing on Tuesday, Justice Kumar Regmi ordered submission of a written response along with a complete investigation and reasons for detention within 24 hours.
Advocate Suresh Bohara had filed a writ petition for habeas corpus at SC on behalf of Prasai, arguing that his detention was unlawful.
Additionally, habeas corpus petitions were filed for Ishwar Dahal, Yukendra Shrestha and Gokul Parajuli, asserting that they were also being held unlawfully.
In response to these petitions, SC asked the Attorney General’s Office to submit a written response via the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Police Headquarters, and the related police offices showing the justification behind detention of Prasai and three others.
